Roles and Responsibilities - Treasurer

Main Purpose of the Role
The Treasurer is responsible for supervising the financial assets of the Club. They are responsible for checking all payments and receipts into the club account and reporting the financial status to the committee and AGM as required.

Actual Duties Involved

• Provide advice to the Committee in their management of the Club finances.
• Administer all financial affairs of the Club.
• Ensure there are budgets in place for any financial initiatives run by the committee or any sub committees, and that finances are checked against the club account for committee approval.
• Support any required auditing processes.
• Monitoring of all incoming monies.
• Monitoring of all outgoing monies.
• Bank all monies received.
• Pay all approved invoices, debts or liabilities.
• Maintain accurate records of all income and expenditure.
• Ensure that all receipts and payments concur with bank deposits and withdrawals.
• Present financial summary at committee meetings and AGM if and as required.
• Be a signatory of the club account.
• Check any payments reported as made by BACS by the Membership Secretary and confirm when received.
• Check any payments reported as made by BACS by the Kit Manager and confirm when received.
• Pay WA remittance advice notes as requested by the Membership Secretary.
• Attending Executive Meetings and carrying out any action points which may arise as a result of discussions.

Liaison with:
• Committee members.
• Club members.
• Club bank personnel.

The post holder will be responsible to:
• Management Committee

Meetings to attend:
• Annual General Meeting.
• Management Committee / General Committee.
• Sub Committees by request.

Estimated time commitment:
• Time commitment will be fairly consistent throughout the year. On average 1 hour a week.
• An increased amount of time is needed around membership renewal dates (2-3 hours per week).

Term of role:
• The Treasurer will be appointed for a period of two years. A new Treasurer will then need to be nominated through the AGM recruitment process but the current incumbent will be eligible to reapply for the role.

Skills Required:
• IT skills (in particular MS Office including MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of budgets.
• Online banking.
• Organisation and communication skills.
